  • Scope and Content
From: Thomas Sworder, Luton; To: Thomas Sworder, Hertford "As you merely said when you enclosed Thurnall's last letter that you had sent it to me before answering it I thought you had determined on your answer which was to refuse joining in the security required. I should only be too glad to give you any security in my power & if Charles takes the Brewery which I now hope he will there will be or ought to be a good balance after Charles' legacy is satisfied. I believe both Lucy & Caroline were told from the first when they agreed to take the £2,000 that you were to be responsible. Robert has written to say he shall be up next week. I don't know what he intends doing. The best malt has not fallen much in value, all secondary samples are unsaleable except at a great sacrifice. I have the new valuation of the Brewery which I will bring over the first time I come over. I presume you have written to Thurnall again. You did not say whether you had or not in your last".
