- Scope and ContentFrom: Thomas Sworder, Luton; To: Thomas Sworder, Hertford "I enclose you cheque for £200 but I have been kept at the office till too late to get up to the Bury before post where Church's I.O.U. is but I will send it over with the Papers relation to Mary Anne admon. I will write to my Mother & see whether she has made any payments that I do not know of. I am much obliged by the loan of the Cheque as it saved me a Journey to London today to get the money & which I hope to get by post tomorrow. By letter received from Caroline today she says You did not tell me Mama, I & Lucy were to be responsible with John & G. for £300 to be paid to Charles - was this to be so". Of course this is the first I have heard of it. What my mother can have to do with guaranteeing money to Charles I don't know".
