  • Scope and Content
From: Thomas Sworder, Luton; To: Thomas Sworder, Hertford "I have been thinking that if you have no objection to assign over Jennings' Mortgage perhaps the party who has the £5,000 to lend would take that mortgage off your hands for a time & then you could have a lien on the Brewery for the amount. I don't see how I can get the money without I get a partner and then that will be a work of time to get matters settled. I am afraid almost to see Benning again as I must give him a positive answer whether I can let Mr.Burr have the money or not within a short time. I have written to Mr.Welch to ask him whether he can give me information as to where £5,000 can be obtained, thinking perhaps he might ask old Mr.Vyse for me when he would not on his own account. I know he would help me as far as lay in his power. Could you write to the Solr Stamp & Taxes to urge on the filing of residuary a/c of Rd.Vyse stating that you are requested by a party interested under the Will. As he knows you so well a line would have great effect perhaps. Foster will let me see the a/c before he signs it & then I can better judge what there is coming to us".
