- Scope and ContentFrom: Thomas Sworder, Luton; To: Thomas Sworder, Hertford "Messrs Trinder & Eyre have at last found a client to advance £4,000 on Throcking at 4 per ct. As that sum would now be more than is required to set the Westmill a/c straight I wrote to T&E to ask them whether their client would advance £3,000 only, thinking that sum would be sufficient to pay off the Bank and also the £1,000 which we paid into the Westmill account. T&E have written to say that their client would rather advance the £4,000 & they wish to know as soon as possible which sum will be required. As it would be no more expense to have the £4,000 then £3,000 perhaps you would not mind letting Robert & myself have £1,000 of it on property of ours of sufficient value being either conveyed to you or deposited with you, as security, & for which sum we would pay 5 per ct. I have written to Mr.Wade respecting Pettit's affair". Indorsed copy reply from Thomas Sworder of Hertford "If all of you wish to have the £4,000 I can have no objection but I must have a paper signed by you all (of age) requesting me to make the mtge - this can be done before the mtge is completed".
