  • Scope and Content
From: Thomas Sworder, Luton; To: Thomas Sworder, Hertford "I had rather have the money all of you if you can advance it all, but when I last saw you, I thought you were surprised that we wanted £6,000 more & I believe you said you did not know hardly how to manage it. It could be managed without your having a 2nd mortgage if you thought proper by appropriating part of the property to your mortgage & part to Mr.T's Client's. I am summoned to town tomorrow to be examined in Huson[?] v Thomas I should therefore be glad to hear from you at T & Eyre's if convenient to you to write, just to say whether you can manage the whole sum. Mr.Bennett is very anxious to get the business settled as he is hard driven for money. Cooke called on me yesterday just before I rec'd your note. His son will not consent to do anything with his property. As we are willing to guarantee the money, I thought I would insure Old Cooke's life for £100 or £150 to make us safe. I will see Chatfield & Co & tender my admission, Mat Longmore writes me that in Jeffs Manors that heir has been admitted in similar cases. Chesshyre has been busy taking insurances this m'g. He has appointed me agent for Luton & W.Medland for Dunstable. I hope I shall be able to get enough from the office to pay for my insurance. If you can please write by this ev'g's post to me in London".
