- Scope and ContentFrom: Thomas Sworder, Luton; To: Thomas Sworder, Hertford "I was in London yesterday & saw Mr.Trinder who asked me whether I knew of any person who wanted money on Mortgage, as he has a Client who wants to invest £20,000 as 4 per cent on all sums above £5,000. Mr.Trinder thought it might be had for a term of years. I thought that if you will not be able conveniently to let us have any more to pay Bennett, we might have £5,000 of Mr.Trinder's client should he be inclined to let it remain 7 or 10 years. I shall be glad to hear from you again soon, as I shall probably be called to Town next week to be examined in Huson[?]v.Thomas, when I shall see Mr.Trinder again. Mr.& Mrs.M. have returned to Dunstable as happy as the days are long of course. I am going to Church there tomorrow. 2 of the Mis's A's are there also, one of them deaf & dumb, the worst of the lot. I have written to Mat as I understand from Mr.Lake yesterday, that Mat told him they had when at Jeffs a case precisely similar to ours with respect to the admission of the heir of a Surrenderee who had not been admitted. The opinion of Mr.Christie was taken on the point which was that the trustees must be admitted. Mr.Trinder thought that the Trustees might disclaim otherwise they would clearly have to be admitted. When I go to Town again I will if possible call on Mr.Wingate & arrange with him the fine if possible as there does not seem much chance of getting off without you & uncle John disclaim".
