    - Includes 1919 Letters and Circulars re Rat Destruction Campaign. - Circular from National Citizens Union, Bedford Branch, 21 Apr 1923: states 1914 35 officials on £11037 salaries; 1922 114 officials cost £31,629 [N.B. 1914 figures do not include numbers of Clerk of Peace's staff, which would comprise of Treasurer's Dept. as well, but salary figures do]. N.C.U. also supported by Farmer's Union, Chamber of Trade, Chamber of Agriculture. N.C.U. "large number of ratepayers in Bedford, especially pensioned classes". - 1926 Beds. C.C. Scholarships. - Agree to earlier postal collection from Prospect Place Wall Box on Saturdays. - Chairman of Finance Committee re N.C.U. letter: all will be revealed 25 May 1923. [Sharnbrook did write to N.C.U. 23 Oct 1923] - Letter from Shire Hall: rats very troublesome in Sharnbrook - calls for concerted action by occupiers "adjacent Brook from Halsey Farm road through the village to Mr Church's windmill". Sent to councils with National Rat week. - Further letter from N.C.U. referring to Beds. Times 4 Dec re salaries. [N.B. officers of N.C.U. were Rev. C.F. Farrer R.D., J.P.; Vice Chairman G.B. Lee-Roberts, Hon Treasurer C.W. Deacon, Joint Hon Secs. W.J. Bennett and G.P. Clapham] - Letter from Jabez Stapleton of Antonie's fam. Asking P.C. to put stile in order at top of Butler's field. - Darnell calls for increase of Clerk's salary because of work done extra because of Churchfield Allotments. - Printed Circular of National Conference of Assessment Committees ( England & Wales) protesting against Rating & Valuation Bill 1925 which amounts to abolition of overseer, a Parish appointee and of the Parochial Valuation List. - Footpaths: one near Wesleyan Chapel to be "tar-patched". Causeway made up with trarmacadam and increased in width. Felmersham inhabitants pleased. - Ouse Drainage Act truce till 1 Jan 1927 (circular from B.W. Goodman of 1b St Peters, Hon Sec Upland Riparian Owners & Occupiers Association (Beds-Bucks-Hunts & Northants). - Mar 1925 looking for field to lease as Recreation Ground. - Letter from Bramco (1920 Ltd of St Nicholas Coventry) advertising Barton Portable pump capable of being fitted on any Ford car / truck. - Mr Hallett retiring from Bank after 41 yrs service - F.G. Frost asks to replace him as Treasurer to Sharnbrook P.C. [now Westminster Bank 81 High St] Nov 1925. - R.J. Marritt Inspector, Sharnbrook Court House, moves to Ampthill 1 Dec 1925. - S.R.
