Whereas 1) are seised in fee of lands etc. to be hereby bargained and sold, and is desirous to settle, convey and assure the same for Charitable uses HOW For settling premises to Charitable uses, and for 10s. apiece paid by 2) to 1), 1) grant to 2):- - all that Close or piece of arable land (2a.) in Caddington, Herts., formerly known as Carley but now called Abbotts Close, formerly in the possession of Dinah Mayles, widow, deceased, late of ...Abbott, deceased, and now of John Rickson : S. Ground heretofore of John Chamberlaine, late Thos. Robbings : NE. Ground heretofore of Thomas Birchmore : W. Watling Street - also all that other close (2a.) in Caddington, formerly known as Shillington Close, but now called Bass Lane Close, formerly in the possession of John Osborne the father of Daniel Osborne of Dunstable, innholder, and now of the said John Rickson : both sides. ground of Thomas Birchmore : SW. Bass Lane With all appurtenances Premises purchased by 1) from aforesaid Daniel Osborn and Sarah his wife by Lease and Release dated 11/12 January last [1754] To hold to 2) on Charitable Trusts etc., as follows: To dispose of rents and profits of premises (after deduction of costs) for placing and putting five children (boys or girls) of the poorest inhabitants of the parish of Kensworth to such proper school as shall be from time to time within the parish, or for want of a suitable school in the parish then to such other school as shall be nearest to the parish. Children to learn to read English and be bred up and instructed in the Christian religion according to the Doctrines and principles of the Church of England. Every such child to be elected and chosen by the Trustees, and to be dismissed and sent from the school when he or she shall be about to read the Books of Holy Scripture commonly called the Bible, and the Master or Mistress of the school to be a member of the Church of England The residue of such rents to be used to buy for the use of each of the children a Bible and Common Prayer Book to be given as a free gift on his or her dismissal from the school [Clause for renewal of trustees as in /Oa above, but total number to be six] Endorsed: Acknowledgment of deed by 1) before Chancery Master, 18 December 1754; Note of Enrollment in Chancery, 16 January 175 : witnesses: F.
