Genealogical Pedigrees and Research of Mr N J Royal

The research of Mr Royal was given to us by the Bedfordshire Family History Society who had received it from him in 2001. Nicholas John Royal was born in 1940 in Bath, the son of David E Royal and Joan Nancy Harding who married in Hertfordshire in 1938. His research into his mother's maternal ancestry lead him to Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Huntingdonshire and Cambridgeshire. His mother Joan Nancy Harding was born in Bath in 1917 (died 2003) to Charles H Harding and Elsie Laura Stockman. Charles and Elsie married in 1914 in Brixton, South London where the Stockman family had lived for many years. Elsie was born in 1883 and died in 1974, and it was during the early 1960s that her reminiscences were noted down by her grandson who began researching her ancestry. Elsie's parents, George Ellyett Stockman and Louisa Ann Frank were married in Islington in 1860. Louisa had been born in 1838 in Welwyn in Hertfordshire and was the daughter of Livett Frank and Charlotte Connor who married in Shoreditch in 1835. Livett Frank was born in Welwyn in 1808, and it is his ancestry that forms the bulk of the research deposited (see pedigree at end of catalogue entries)
