    Originally built as an isolation hospital for Ampthill Urban and Ampthill Rural District Councils on land offered by the Duke of Bedford. The hospital was designed by Percy Adams and opened on the 8th December 1905. It was later run as a cottage hospital. From the 1990s it was occupied by community health and mental health teams. Steppingley Hospital was separate to Ampthill Rural District Council's smallpox hospital that stood to the north of the isolation hospital on the east side of Fordfield Road, which was built in about 1901.
  • Archival history
    One register was deposited by the then health trust along with Biggleswade isolation hospital material in 1996. Additional material was deposited in 2018.
