  • Scope and Content
From: Thomas Sworder, Luton; To: Thomas Sworder, Hertford "I send you a request to sell. If Throcking & Aspeden [sic] are not sold we must let them as John and George will then have plenty to look after. I suppose you will arrange with Nash about his charges. If Throcking is sold the deposit might be paid in to your account I should think. It perhaps would be as well to state in the par'lars that part of the money may remain on mortgage as that might be an inducement to some parties to purchase. I have copies of the Inventories made by Nash & Summers. The Abstracts will not be ready I should think before the end of this month. I have had a letter from Ben Young. He will perhaps pay us a visit this week, he is now staying at Yarmouth. I have not asked Uncle Smitheman to pay the money at once. I told him we could advance him the money to purchase the Brewery &c. & then he could pay us back the beginning of next year. Caroline has been out on the mare twice. She goes very quiet with her. I am glad to hear a better account from Hertford & hope the Cholera is subsiding. Hoping you are better".
