Palmer, tenants & inhabitants in the parish & manor of Clifton. Recites that there have of late been disputes between W. Rolte, lord of the manors of C. & Lacies, & the said tenants regarding their common in the manor, & suits against W. Rolte for digging turves in the Lakes (Common-). It is now agreed: (i) The tenants grant to W. Rolte & his heirs all their rights in 10 acres (part of the Lakes), lying next the river, as now enclosed by W. R.; also common in all their lammas & common field lands; (ii) W. Rolte grants to the tenants, their heirs & assigns common of pasture for all cattle at all times in Redgrass Peece next the Cowpasture; in 3 poles breadth throug Further Englands; and a herd or driftway over the 3 poles to Chappell Meade, & through the headland's breadth over a parcel of ground called Greenhills adjoining the lane there. "toward the enlargeing of the said way for the towne heard there".
