    Memorandum of conviction: Samuel Peacock one of the overseers of the poor of Wilshamstead informed that John Barton of Wilshamstead, labourer, ran away from his wife and family and neglected to provide for them. George Phipps of Wilshamstead, farmer appeared as credible witness. John Barton convicted of being an idle and disorderly person and committed to one calendar month hard labour in the new house of correction.
