    Report of Jesse Odell, Labourer of Campton who was going home from Shefford to Campton when he saw Sam Devereux and William Tingey with Mees' donkey and cart. Devereux was leading and Tingey was in the cart beating the donkey with a stick until it fell down. Rev G M Osborne said something to them. Mrs Mees took the donkey from them and took it back home to Campton Turn. Both men were drunk. Report of Isabella Newman, Single Woman living with her father at Campton Turn. She saw Devereux and Tingey against Mees' house with the donkey and cart. They started towards Campton, Tingey commenced beating the donkey with a stick and continued to do so until the donkey fell down. Mrs Mees took the donkey back home. It's back was bleeding. Both men were drunk. Report of PC Chas Cheshire stationed at Meppershall who was at Campton Turn. He was called to the New Inn stables where he saw the donkey. He found 2 wounds which were still bleeding and an old wound which had 'matter' coming from it. The donkey was trembling, frightened and in a very bad condition.
