  • Title
    Indenture of Feoffment (grant, alien, assign, enfeoff and confirm). Parties (i) John Pawle and Thomas Fowkes of Wootton, yeomen. (ii) Thomas Awdley and William Rowse of Houghton Conquest, gent. Operative part Feoffment (operative words as above) from (i), (for and in consideration that (ii) shall by their deed indented before the feast day of the Annunciation of Our Lady next coming convey, re-assign, re-enfeoff and confirm unto (i) and such person(s) and to their heirs as (i) or either of them shall nominate or appoint, all the land referred to in this deed, to such uses as (i) or either of them shall assign, nominate and appoint) to (ii) of all those lands, tenements and hereditaments mentioned and expressed in an annexed schedule (long thin membrane annexed to the deed membrane at the foot by the tags), the contents of which are identical to the land scheduled in X740/14 Habendum: to (ii) their heirs and assigns for ever. Warranty clause by (i) under the stated condition/consideration. Seals: 2 (on pendant tags), missing. Sig. of JP on L.H. foot fold/top of tag/ Dorse: memorandum that Emme Pecocke (named in the terrier) attorned tenant to (ii) for the messuage and lands in her occupation by delivery of 4d. in part payment of her rent due to the same in the presence of William Wright (sig.) and William Cowley (mark 'WC'); memo, that Edward Swayne attorned tenant for 1 tenement and close adjoining, let to him to farm, by payment of 3d. in part payment etc. and in the presence of the same witnesses; memo. of sealing, signing and delivery of possession and seisin of all the premises by (i) to (ii) in the presence of William Wright (sig.) and Urian Maynard (mark).
