Scope and Content
In 1938 there was some disagreement as to whether the Charity should provide £700 for repairing the chancel roof and whether the Trustees should put aside a sum each year to provide for repairs to the church and to the Christie Alms Houses rather than paying most of the income to the Vicar. All the material in this bundle relates to this disagreement and includes a pamphlet issued by L.M. Hawkins, "Some Notes on Religion and Life in Bedford as lived and practised by the Trustee's of Christie's Charity" who objected to the decision reached by the Trustees.
