    Letters Patent. Wm. Bowstrod V. Jn. Cooke (tenant of Henry Astrey). (1) - - Messuage called Clarkes & 46 ac. land, 2 ac. pasture in Leagrave. (2) - - Grazing rights appertaining in 3 1/2 ac. in Whistrawe field in Chalton, (after harvest in Whistrawe Field & while fallow.) (i) Hil. (13 Jan.) 1607 W.B. - 'billa' against J.C. for breaking into meadow called Birchmeade in Whistrawe fld. between mead of Henry Strange S. & Thos. Carrington N. and destroyng grass value 5 between 20 May (1606) & 20 June - grazing horses & cattle on it & other damage val. 10. (ii) Jn. Cooke's reply: He seised of prop. (1) time out of mind to which grazing rights (2) belong of Henry Astrye before him; 9 Ap. 1602, H.A. to J.C. Lease for 21 yrs. from Mich. 1605 (iii) 8 Feb. & 22 Mar. 1607 (Bedf.) rep.
