Jas. Walker. Born Mid-Calder, Mid Lothian, Scotland, where his father belonged but his father afterwards gained a settlement in Edinburgh. Served his apprenticeship with Geo. Savage, in West Kirk, Edinburgh, cordwainer. Then came to London and worked as a journeyman by the week for 4 years, when he went abroad and being in Gibraltar enlisted in the 30th Regt. of Foot and after 3 years was drafted into the 69th Regt. of F. and served 18 or 19 years before being discharged. Now receives an Irish Pension". Married in 1776 to Ann White in St. Peters; 3 chn.
