Catherine was the daughter of Abel Walford Bellairs of Stamford and Uffington, Lincs. She married in 1818 the Rev. John Lindsay Dent Young (d.1822), and in 1836 the Rev. Geo. Maclear.
Catherine Young came to Bedford in April, 1832, for the education of her younger son at Bedford Grammar School.
She lived successively in two houses in St. Peter's.
In 1836 she married George Maclear, who was Chaplain at Bedford gaol, after which she lived, first in Cauldwell St.,then in the Crescent.
Catherine was born in Stamford, Lincs, in 1797. She lived in various places as her family tried to recover from a business crisis and in 1818 married a clergyman, who was a friend of her brother. The Rev and Mrs Young had two sons before the Reverend Young died of consumption. As a widow with a young family Catherine Young again moved around however she was mostly with family in Haverfordwest until, in 1832, it was decided that she and her father and youngest son should move to Bedford. The move took place in April 1832 and Catherine took up residence in St Peter's. In 1836 Catherine married the Rev. George Maclear. George had been left a widower only 14 months previously and had three very small children. Catherine and George had one daughter. Catherine died in 1869 in Bedford.
