Assignment of Mortgage: Sir Jn. Weld of Compton Bassett (co. Wilts),
knt. (exor. of Dame Frances Weld of London, widow, to Geo. Pitt of
Strattfeildsey (co. Southants.) esq. ; for 2,500. - Several large
farms in Herne, Toddington and Fancott in par. of TODDINGTON. & small
properties is TINGRITH & WESTONING. (Recites original mortage, dated
1631, for £5000, by Thos. Earl of Cleveland & Ann Countess of C., to
Sir Jas. Stonehouse of Islington (co. Midx.), Knt. (decd.), & same
Dame Frances Weld, in turn reciting several leases from 1610).
i) Sir John Weld, Compton Bassett, Wilts knight, exor. of
last will and testament of Dame Frances Weld late of London,
widow decd
ii) George Pitt of Stratfeildsey, Hants., esq.
reciting indenture 6 July 1631 bet.
1) Thos. Earl of Cleveland and Ann Countess of
Cleveland his wife
2) Sir James Stonehowse, Islington, Mddx. kt
since deceased

all of which (1) by lease 30 July 12 Jas I 1614 to Nich.
Bennett for 21 yrs rent £100 p.a.

and Statute Staple for 10,000, and that neither capital
nor interest paid, and
reciting will of Sir James Stonehowse making wife Dame Ann
Stonehowse and son Sir James Stonshowse baronet exors.,
and Dame Anne died intestate, and Sir James Stonehowse bt. died
intestate, and administration of goods and chattels were
granted to Dame Mary Stonehowse his wife, and
reciting indenture 25 July 1654

2) Dame Frances Weld and Humphrey Weld of Lullworth
Castle eldest son of Dame Frances,
saying that Dame Frances Weld had paid many debts of
the Stonehowse family, and inconsid. of £1568 15s.
to (1),
Rlease and quitclaim by (1) to (2) of all rights in mtge
(with proviso for cancellation if money not paid)
reciting indenture 28 Dec 1654 bet

2) Dame Mary Stonehowse containing acknowledgement that
money had been paid
and that Dame Frances Weld's interest has now descended to
Sir John Weld as executor of her last will and testament,
and upon an account made 24 August 1660 the said Earl and Thos.
Lord Wentworth his son and heir apparent agreed that there was
now due on the said mortage 9980
MORTGAGE
(DEMISE & ASSIGNMENT) by (i) to (ii) for £2500 of mortgage interest in premises
to secure £2650 for capital and interest.
