Typewritten notes as follows: "Information from Mrs.Manley's deeds to be incorporated into book on the village's history. Thomas Rosson bought plots of land across the road from David's Cross Close in1825 (David's Cross Close is an old name for the bit of land opposite your house). He bought 3 perches from Robert Orlebar (with lengthy provision for the maintenance of hedges by Orlebar) and half an acre from Richard How. By 1841 he was in possession of another piece of land, two acres in extent, which was described as adjoining both the How piece and a Mr.King's land. The Orlebar plot already had a house on it in 1825 (occupied by T.Robinson) Rosson set about building more houses on his land. A mortgage deed of 1841 refers to "six cottages lately built" on the land bought from How, but more detailed descriptions in deeds of 1850 refer to two cottages on the Orlebar piece. These were occupied by the families of Chapman and Foster. the 1850 deed refers to 3 cottages and a barn on the How piece. For these 4 occupiers are listed: Mary Rosson, Robertson, Crute and John Assbee. Another cottage on this piece (making 6 in all on the combined property) had been sold to William Rosson".
