  • Title
    Sarah, widow of Thos. Harris. Married 12 years ago in Lambeth. Heard her husbnad say he was a parishioner of St. Paul. He was apprenticed to Wm. Allbourne of Biggleswade, carpenter for 5 years but only served 7 years. She had heard that the Indentures were not valid, not being stamped. He afterwards worked as a journeyman carpenter till they married. Her husband hired a shop and parlour, part of a house, No. 7 Drury Lane, St. Giles in the Fields, Mddx. of Mr Jones, Broad Street, same, tea dealer, for either £9, 9 guineas or £10 per annum, about 11½ years ago. They then rented various houses in London (details given) until her husband died in Holborn. She was removed to Christ Church and was put into the workhouse, as the overseer was away from home, for a fortnight. On his return she was sent back to Holborn, where she was re-examined and the next day removed to Bedford St. Paul. She has 4 children. After the examination follows a short note to a Mr. Graham, asking his advice on the case. Robt. Graham's, reply from Lincolns Inn is attached to the examination. "It seems worth while to make some further Enquiry about the hiring in Drury Lane".
