  • Title
    Thos. Marks. "was a Parishoner of the Parish of St. Paul" and was apprenticed by the Bedford Charity to Wm. Wilson of Daventry, carpenter for 7 years. He served 4¾ years "when his Master and this Examinant having Words and his Master beating him it was agreed they should part and his Master gave him up his Indenture and he came away from him but was never discharged by a Justice of the Peace". He then went about from place to place but never stayed anywhere forty days. He then came home to his mother in St. Pauls and worked at his trade with different persons in Bedford till the expiration of his apprenticeship, during which time he lodged with his mother. After his apprenticeship he hired a lodging in St. Paul working as a journeyman in his trade with Thos. Allen, St. Pauls, carpenter. A month earlier he had been married in St. Pauls to Ann Careless.
