    Abstract of title of the heir at law of Mr.S.Reeve to a messuage called "The Peacock", marked "No.3" abstracted by Ashfield & Woodman of Leighton Buzzard, abstracting: (I) Copy court roll, [Manor of Leighton Buzzard alias Grovebury] of 22-23 May 1755 - admission of Abraham Peacock, eldest son and heir of Jane Peacock, deceased, to, amongst other things, messuage in Leighton Buzzard called Peacock in occupation of George Cooper and Thomas Crain at quitrent of 3/7 per annum (II) Copy court roll [Manor of Leighton Buzzard alias Grovebury] of 31 Oct-1 Nov 1793 - presentment of death "long since" of Abraham Peacock, late of Redbourn [Hertfordshire], victualler seized of Peacock, Leighton Buzzard at quitrent of 3/7 per annum and there appeared to Lord for a heriot "one horse being the best of the live cattle whereof the said Abraham Peacock died possessed according to the custom of the said Manor which was seized by the Lord's Bailiff for the Lord's use"; - presentment of surrender of copyhold premises by Abraham Peacock to use of his will of 28 Jun 1762 to his wife Mary for her life, remainder to his son William Peacock; - presentment of admission of Mary Peacock on 29 Oct 1767 and that she was "long since" dead "whereupon it appeared to the Lady for a heriot the best of her live cattle and for want thereof the best of her goods whereof she was possessed at the time of her decease which was compounded for and paid to the Bailiff for the use of the Lady"; - presentment that William Peacock also "long since" dead in the life time of his mother Mary and that William Peacock aged 14 was his son and heir; - admission of William Peacock by Mary Peacock of Redbourn, spinster his aunt and attorney at quitrent of 3/7 (III) Copy court roll [Manor of Leighton Buzzard alias Grovebury] of 28-29 May 1801 - presentment that at court of 5-6 Jun 1800 it was testified that on 9 Apr 1800 William Peacock of Watford [Hertfordshire], carrier and Martha, his wife, surrendered out of court to use of John Norman of Leighton Buzzard, victualler an inn called Peacock late in occupation of Thomas Crane and George Cooper senior, then Sarah Parsons, widow and George Cooper in Corn Market, Leck End, Leighton Buzzard; - presentment that on the surrender a heriot was due to Lady of Manor of best of live cattle or, for want thereof, best of goods of William Peacock; - admission of John Norman, quitrent 3/7 per annum (IV) Copy court roll [Manor of Leighton Buzzard alias Grovebury] of 14-15 Jun 1810 - presentment of surrender out of court on 9 Jun 1810 of John Norman of Leighton Buzzard, victualler and Sarah, his wife, to use of Sarah Hopkins in consideration of 465 of Peacock, Leck End, Leighton Buzzard except grant to George Hart of Leighton Buzzard, dealer in straw plait (owner of cottage in Gig Lane in occupation of William Tompkins, butcher) right of way from Gig Lane to upper yard of Peacock in which barn of George Hart in occupation of William Prentice, then George Hart stood - admission of Samuel Hopkins, quitrent 3/7 per annum (V) Copy court roll [Manor of Leighton Buzzard alias Grovebury] of 4 Jul 1844 - reciting court of 28-29 Oct 1830 at which was presented surrender out of court of 18 Oct 1830 by Samuel Hopkins of Leighton Buzzard, gardener and Fanny, his wife to Samuel Reeve in consideration of 700 of Peacock, Leck End, Leighton Buzzard - admission by Thomas Hill Mortimer, steward at his chambers in The Albany, Piccadilly, St.James, Westminster [Middlesex] to Samuel Reeve by his attorney Robert Elden of 7 Staple Inn, London; quitrent 3/7 per annum (VI) Copy court roll [Manor of Leighton Buzzard alias Grovebury] of 31 Oct-1 Nov 1844 - presentment of death of Samuel Reeve, late of Leighton Buzzard, common brewer seized of cottage or inn called Peacock formerly in occupation of Thomas Crane and George Cooper senior then Sarah Parsons, widow and George Cooper then Samuel Hopkins and William Tomes in Corn Market, Leck End, Leighton Buzzard subject to right of way for George Hart of Leighton Buzzard, dealer in straw plait (owner of cottage in Gig Lane in occupation of William Tompkins, butcher) from Gig Lane to upper yard of Peacock in which barn of George Hart in occupation of William Prentice, then George Hart stood; - admission of Charles Reeve of Leighton Buzzard, common brewer, son and heir of Samuel Reeve by Arthur Ashfield, his attorney "by yearly quitrent of 3/7 a heriot in respect of the said messuage when it happened, fealty etc."
