Removal order for John Thomas, his wife Elizabeth and children John aged 12, George aged 9, Elizabeth aged 5 and William eight months. Removed from St Thomas the Apostle, Exeter to the next parish of Charmouth, Dorset then to Cardington. Justice: William Ellicombe. WIth settlement examination:

Examination of John Thomas 11 November 1816 taken by William Ellicombe, J.P. Who on his oath saith that he was born (as he has been informed) in the parish of Cardington in the County of Bedford, where his father belonged (as he hath heard & believes). He further saith that he never was an apprentice, never lived a year as a covenant servant, never rented ten pounds per year, never paid parish taxes or done a parish office or in any manner done an act to gain a settlment seperate from his father in Cardington aforesaid. He further saith he hath a wife with him named Elizabeth and four children to wit John aged about twelve years, George aged about nine years, Elizabeth aged about five years and William aged about eight months.
