    Handwritten notes about the Caulcot Charity & the Women’s Land Charity. Caulcot Charity 1882: Trustees: Rev. Canon Tylecote; George Duncombe, John Bosworth, John Brown, George E Brown, Henry Randall, Joseph Hillson. The Estate consists of 4a 1r 20p in the parish of Wootton let in allotments and about 3a 1r 15½p in Marston let to Mr Charles Franklin. Previous to 1876 the money was distributed in money annually to poor persons living in Caulcot & Lower Shelton. In 1876 the Charity Commission ordered that the income of the Charity should be applied to the benefit of deserving and necessitous inhabitants of the parish of Marston providing them with clothes, bedding, fuel, medical or other aid and in sickness food or other articles in kind. Not to be used in lieu of poor rates. Widows Charity Trustees are Churchwardens & Overseers. Consists of about 5a of land and brick kiln let to Mr Charles Franklin and interest on £223 amounting to £6.13.8 per annum. Yearly all the poor widows of the parish receive a pair of shoes each and also sufficient cloth for a gown or such other necessary clothing. Residue given to other poor women in the Parish.
