    George Cooke/Cocke of Bykelswade made 2 Oct. pr. 13 Dec. 1546. Soul to Almighty God. Burial in the churchyard of Bykelswade next to his father. To the mother church of Lincoln 3s. 4d.. To the vicar for tithes forgotten 2s.. To the churchwardens to buy such ornaments as are necessary and needful for the church of Bykylswad 20s.. To mend Shortmede Street 40s.. To every poor householder 4d.. To his wife Joane all the goods and chattels as testator received with her, or else she to have their value. To her also 2 feather beds with all that goes with them, 10 quarters of barley and a quarter of rye. Testator gives to his wife his house called the Crosse Keys with all appurtenances and the Further Barn being on the backside, she to have the property for her life time, and on her death it is to go to testator's son Raff Cok and his heirs. To his son Richard Cocke the best featherbed with all that belongs to it; the testator's best gown and best jacket; 10 quarters of barley and a quarter of rye. Also four half yards of land which were testator's father's to remain with Richard and his heirs for ever. To Richard also a messuage with appurtenances in Shortemede Street where Thomas Inwyn the younger lives, on condition that the said Richard keeps an annual obit for the souls of his father and all Christians. To son Water Cocke his second gown, 10 quarters of barley, a quarters of rye To son Raffe Cocke and his heirs the 2 burgages called [?]Gyllottes with 2 half yardlands, and the third gown, 10 quarters of barley and a quarter of rye. Also all the debt Raffe owes to testator. To daughter Alys a featherbed and a mattress with all that goes with them, and 5 marks in money. A priest is to sing for testator for a whole year in the parish church of Bykelswad beginning immediately after his death, and he to be paid 8 marks. Executors to give in deeds of charity on his burial day £6 13s. 4d. and the same amount at his month's day. To Cesylye Gaddesden and Jone Gaddesden 5 quarters of barley to each. Residue to be divided between his 3 sons Richard, Water and Raff Cock, and they to be his executors. Supervisor the Right Worshipfull Master Francis Pegott esquire, and he to have 20s..
