    (Also enclosed) Receipt to the Lord Chancellor, re Sir Norton Robinson, Bart. and lunatic by P. Holford Sir Norton declared lunatic 2 May 1770. Inquiry by order of Lord Chancellor dated 23 November 1775, to consider (amongst other things) what is a proper allowance for said lunatic, regarding being had to his circumstances and estate. Inquiry attended by solicitors for Lord Grantham, committee of lunatic Mary Rerse [Peirse?]; widow, and Elizabeth and Margaret Robinson, spinsters, all of York, equally entitled to his estate, if he died intestate, as next of kin. Lunatic inherited several estates on death of his father Sir Wm Robinson, Bart. 4 March 1770, comprising: Aldfield and Winskley, Newby-upon-Swale, Disforth and Asenby, Worton and Askrigg [list of tenants and their rents and allowances] total annual value £857 18.8. Also an annuity of £60 payable out of the estate of Lord Grantham at Rocliffe Total: £917 18.8.p.a. These estates encumbered by: Mortgage in £3,500 at 4% interest, to Elizabeth and Margaret Robinson (sisters of lunatic) (£120 p.a.) Fee farm rent due for Worton Barony of £11 13.2. Annuity to Mrs. Dorothy Robinson, widow of Sir Wm, £140 Total incumbrances: £411 13.2.p.a.
