Achmet, Royal Baths, Dublin to "Gentleman" Achmet claims the baths he has built up are as elegant as any in Europe. Thousands of poor people are accommodated there in Summer to the benefit of their health. But needs money to maintain the baths. "People in Power here" are preferring to make donations to something more local. Had expected favour under previous administrations, but Lord Townshend left office and "the Provost" died. Does not know how Granville is connected to the present Vice Roy, but hopes his political influence on "the other side of the water" may be put to use in Irish affairs. The baths have been visited by the Primate, a namesake, perhaps a relation of Granville. The Primate is respected by all ranks and degrees to people and gives a dignity to his nation not attained under any of his predecessors. Enclosed two letters indicating favour shown to Achmet by previous administrations. [L 30/14/2/12b and 12c below].
