- TitleGrantham, Newby Hall to Amabel, St. James' Square Discusses the instructions he gave in Bedfordshire that he wished a vote to be secured to Mr Stewart, and hoped that none would be given to Sir Peter Payne. He writes, "I did not think him a fit man for our County member, either from Property, Politics, Residence or Talent". (Also see L 30/11/243/58 for his views of the candidates). He advised the tenants not to vote for Sir Charles Russell, as he was associated with Payne. Also mentions the Ripon elections.
