Grantham, St. James's to Fitzherbert, Paris (No 9, copy) Encloses letters (not present) regarding the cases of Captain Campbell and Captain Dean who are being kept hostage. Applications have been made for their exchange or leave to go on parole to the Governor of the Havana by the Governor of Jamaica and by Mr Walpole to the Spanish Ambassador. Count Anthony Viscoich has received "vigorous treatment as a prisoner in Barcelona. The crew of the Xebeque the General Elliot are treated like slaves. Fitzherbert is to mention all these matters to Count Aranda. (See also L 29/561/2)
