Grantham, St. James's to Stepney, Berlin (private) Stepney will receive details of the step which the King takes in concurring with France and Spain in making "a kind of Invitation to the Mediating Powers, to assume their Office at the Close of the Negotiations". The Prussian King has always viewed with jealousy the "least appeal to or connexion with the Court of Vienna". Grantham hopes the courts will decline proceeding as mediators. The peace is about to be condemned due to a union between the parties of Fox and North. Grantham sorry to hear of the slights the King of Prussia had shown to Stepney. Stepney should have communicated this by private letter rather than an official dispatch.
