- TitleDeclaration of Thomas Pigott of Stopsley, Luton, farmer: - he remembered John Chase of Luton, surgeon, over 45 years ago, possessing a freehold farm at Stopsley, particularly 1a 0r 4p of meadow, until the time of his death in 1843 when it was in occupation of William Gillham; - on death of John Chase, his wife Frances received the rents of the farm and land for her life; - after her death Frederick Chase received the rents and afterwards sold part of the meadow in occupation of William Gillham to Frederick Davis, whose assignees afterwards sold it to Francis Foster of Stopsley, brickmaker; - Francis Foster afterwards erected a public house called Brickmakers Arms on part of the meadow formerly of John Chase in occupation of William Gillham; - witnessed by Charles W[illiam] Austin, Commissioner of Oaths
