    Parties: (i) Elizabeth Slade of Luton, widow of Jonathan Slade of St.Sepulchres [Middlesex], rag merchant, deceased; (ii) Anthony Barton of Luton, grocer Operative Part: - (i) borrowed 60 at 5% interest from (ii) secured on (a) Property: (a) two cottages adjoining together in South End of Luton formerly in occupation of John Knott and William Olney, now Elizabeth Slade bounding: messuage of John Edwards on one side and messuage of Thomas Davis on other, fronting road from Luton to The Brache; now occupied as one parcel Witnesses: - S.Marsom; - Edward Ewer Elizabeth Slade signed by mark Endorsements: - agreement of 30 Jan 1738 [1739] between (i) and (ii) to indemnify (ii) who, with (i), was bound to Oliver Edwards, sheriff for 28 for the appearance of (i) to answer Anne Stankcliffe, executrix of Catherine Lindsey, deceased (the 60 having been borrowed in connection with this); - note that on 9 Nov 1739 (i) still owed 31/3/9 and was bound to him in sum of 62/7/6 to repay him; witnessed by S.Marsom and Edward Ewer
