    Bargain & Sale "this is of no particular use - only kept to shew how inconsiderable the Stock of a Brewer was at that time - viz 14,116/1/10" Parties: (i) Edward Godfrey of St.Luke [Middlesex], brewer; Joseph Shewell of St.Luke, brewer; (ii) Godfrey Shewell of St.Luke, brewer; Samuel Whitbread of St.Sepulchres [Middlesex], brewer; Thomas Shewell of St.Bedast alias Foster, London, linen draper Reciting: - agreement of 28 Feb 1729 [1730] between Edward Godfrey to Joseph Shewell (who were equal partners in brewhouse and business in Old Street, St.Luke worth 9,000), to be partners in brewery business for 21 years; - it had been agreed by (i) to end their partnership First Operative Part: - (i) agreed that their partnership was ended as of 11 Dec 1742 Reciting: - partnership valued at 14,116/1/10 as of 11 Dec 1742 as set out in Schedule; - debts owed by the partnership amounted to 9,405/13/9; - (i) agreed to deduct from the valuation of the partnership 610/8/1 as bad debt reducing the balance, after the deduction of 9,405/13/9 as above to 4,100; - agreement of 4 Jan 1742 [1743] in which (i) agreed to convey the business and its assets to (ii) on payment of the 9,405/13/9 debts plus 4,100 paid to (i); - (i) agreed that the partnership was indebted to Joseph Shewell for 4,361/2/1 not included in the sum of the 9,405/13/9 other debts; - Edward Godfrey had agreed that all the 4,100 paid by (ii) should be paid to Joseph Shewell Second Operative Part: - (ii) paid 4,100 to Joseph Shewell by direction of Edward Godfrey; - (ii) agreed to pay all debts of the partnership amounting to 9,405/13/9; - (i) bargained and sold the business in Old Street, London (ii) Witnesses: - Edward Godfrey; - Ive Whitbread; - Edward Cradock; - William Richards
