Abstract of Title of Mr John Elger Esq to a freehold estate (The Kirkpatrick Estate) in the parish of St Paul in the Town of Bedford pruchased of Mr and Mrs Kirkpatrick's Trustees. beginning with the marriage settlement betwn Wm Kirkpatrick and Frances Anne Maitland, 1825 and ending with details of how Mr Elger's unsold land must be protected from damage and injury from the Gas works, 1862. - Boarden Barn close later known as Hardings Close, cottage and parcel of enclosed Ground called Boarden Barn. Includes 2 plans on of 1825 showing Ford End Road to the north of the property and Key or Water Lane to the E.and a footpath across. The other of 1862 showing Midland Road and Wells Street to the N, Water Street to the E, Western Terrace to the W and the River Ouse to the S. The property is now crossed by Battison Street, Maitland Street, Costin Street and Commercial Road (which follows the line of the earlier footpath).
