to (2) Whitley Sale of Bedford, gentleman to levy a fine sur conizance de droit come ceo on: (a) messuage in Bedford, St.Cuthbert, formerly in occupation of Catharine Radwell, then Henry Clarke, abutting: E on messuage late in tenure of John Church belonging to Eleanor Button, widow; messuage late in tenure of Thomas Sweatman, belonging to Judith Woodroffe, spinster S; farm yard and premises late of William Parker and Richard Parker, then John Morley W; highway N; which was part of the estate conveyed to John Woodroffe by conveyance od 20 & 21 Nov 1797 by Thomas Parker; (b) cottage in Bedford, St.Cuthbert in occupation of James Fox with a half share in a well; (c) yard, garden etc. of (b) abutting: N of premises John Yarrow; E on footpath and curtilage in occupation of Ann Manton, belonging to Sophia Woodroffe, spinster; S on premises of Edward Jones; W on cottage in occupation of Thomas Covington belonging to Mary Woodroffe, widow; (b)-(c) having been conveyed to John Woodroffe on 9 Jan 1804 by R.H.Whitehurst and Mary Ann his wife, Jane Bill, spinster and John Parker the younger and Susannah his wife; (d) cottage in Goldington formerly divided into two; (e) pightle or orchard adjoining (d) of half an acre; (d)-(e) having been purchased by Humphrey Finch from Francis Castleman and formerly in tenures of Widow Sharman and Thomas Walker bounded: W by way leading to River Field; E by cottage formerly in occupation of Benjamin Goodman; N by common green; S by River Field; (f) cottage in Goldington; (g) little orchard or pightle adjoining (f), (f)-(g) having been purchased by Humphrey Finch from William Perry, late in tenure of Thomas Richardson bounded: N by messuage formerly of Joseph Benson; W by common street; E by common field of Goldington; - "all which said premises last mentioned" being divided into 5 tenements in occupations of William Goddard, [blank] Clark; [blank] Rowney and William Garratt and devised by Humphrey Finch in his will of 21 Sep 1792 to his daughters Mary How and Sarah Sykes; Sarah Sykes devised her share, in her will of 10 Apr 1788, to Elizabeth Woodroffe (later Elizabeth Barker); the other moiety [that of Mary How] was conveyed to John Woodroffe on 1 & 2 Nov 1791 by Spencer How and Mary his wife; then, after the death of Elizabeth, that they should call the money in and devise it to: Susannah and Mary, daughters of Thomas Fisher, late of Colmworth, farmer by Mary his wife, both deceased; Judith Pennyfather of Bedford, St.Cuthbert, daughter of John Woodroffe by Mary his wife, both deceased; Sophia Woodroffe, daughter of John Woodroffe equally when each became 21 (II) Indenture of 5 Jan 1822 between (1) Joseph Barker and Elizabeth his wife; (2) William Hurst of Bedford, gentleman reciting, among other things, that Elizabeth Woodroffe married Joseph Barker on 4 Sep 1808 to bar and destroy all estates tail concerning (a)-(g) below with a covenant to levy a fine sur conizance de droit come ceo: (a) cottage, formerly divided in two in Goldington, then divided into three; (b) pightle or orchard belonging to (a) containing half an acre formerly in occupation of E.Sharman, widow and Thomas Walker, now of Joseph Barker, W.Young and Susanna Rowney bounded: W by way to River Field; W by premises of William Woodroffe (III) Trinity Term 3 Geo 4 fine between William Hurst, plaintiff and Joseph Barker and Elizabeth his wife, deforciants of 10 cottages, 4 barns, 4 gardens, 2 orchards, 2 acres of land and common of pasture in Goldington and Bedford, St.Cuthbert (IV) Will of 28 Jan 1834 of Joseph Barker, amongst other things, devising to his wife Elizabeth all real estate for her natural life, sans waste, and after her death in equal parts to Susannah Fisher, Judith Pennyfather and Sophia Thompson;
