    Will, Codicil and Probate of Lady Louisa St.John Will (11 Dec 1857): - to be buried with husband and children in vault at Bletsoe; - to her daughters Louisa Barbara Macleod of Macleod and Jane Emily, wife of Sir Charles Edmund Isham, baronet, all her jewels, lace and shawls equally; - to her son Charles Lyndhurst Vaughan all her plate, linen and furniture; - to Charles Lyndhurst Vaughan the large picture of her late husband Mr.Justice Vaughan by Pickersgill - to Emily Isham the smaller picture of Mr.Justice Vaughan by Rothwell and drawing of her late son Edward St.John Vaughan; - to her son St.Andrew, Lord St.John, the drawings of Lord St.John and his infant brother and of Mrs.Macleod; - to Charles Lyndhurst Vaughan her messuage in Church Road, St.Leonard's on Sea [Sussex], leased from Charles Gilbert Eversfield; - to each of her children 100 for a ring or other token of remembrance; - to each of her grandchildren 100; - to St.Andrew Lord St.John 200; - to Rev. William Wheeler Hume, incumbent of St.Leonard's on Sea, 100 as one of her executors; - to her nurse Sarah Huckans 100 free of legacy duty; - to each of her servants living with her at her death one year's wages free of legacy duty; - to Northampton Infirmary 100; - to Bedford Infirmary 100; - to Middlesex Hospital 100; - to East Sussex, Hastings & St.Leonards Infirmary 100; - to Bletsoe church, if, within seven years of her death, rebuilding or repair was necessary, 500; - to Bishop of Chichester, incumbent of St.Mary Magdalene, St.Leonards on Sea and Charles Lyndhurst Vaughan as trustees, if within ten years of her death someone gave a site in St.Leonards on Sea not in the parish of St.Mary Magdalene for a church, 1,000 for accommodation of the poor within the church which must have three quarters of its seats free, her wish (but not condition) being that Charles Lydndhurst Vaughan to be made incumbent of any such church; if no such church was built within ten years the money to go to Incorporated Society for Promoting the Enlargement, Building and Repairing of Churches and Chapels in England and Wales; - to Charles Lyndhurst Vaughan all real and residue of personal estate, noting that Louisa Barbara Macleod had received the Spratton Estate, St.Andrew St.John and Jane Emily Isham were amply provided for; - to St.Andrew St.John and Charles Lyndhurst Vaughan all real estate vested in her as trustee or mortgagee; - St.Andrew St.John, Charles Lyndhurst Vaughan and William Wheeler Hume to be joint executors; - witnessed by Frederick Curry and Henry William Bradford, both of 66 Lincolns Inn Fields [Middlesex], gentlemen Codicil (14 Oct 1859) - revocation of legacy to build a church in St.Leonards on Sea as she had lately set up a trust to build such a church free to National Schools and poor people of St.Mary Magdalene, St.Leonards on Sea; - to Louisa Barbara Macleod, wife of Norman Macleod and Jane Emily Isham 500 each for their sole use; - to Andrew Johns Rouse Boughton , knight, of Downton Castle [Shropshire] and Francis Vaughan Hawkins of Lincolns Inn 6,000 upon trust for investment, interest to be paid to Charles Lyndhurst Vaughan and his children; - witnessed by William James Farrer and Henry William Bradford, both of 66 Lincolns Inn Fields, gentlemen Probate (3 Aug 1860); - death of Louisa Dowager Baroness St.John of Spratton [Northamptonshire], Melchbourne and St.Leonards on Sea on 9 Jul 1860 at Victoria Hotel, Euston Square [Middlesex]; - proof of will by St.Andrew Beauchamp, Baron St.John and Rev.Charles Lyndhurst Vaughan, Rev.William Wheeler Hume having renounced probate The document is stamped with seals of Regents Canal Company, Great Eastern Railway Company, Great Westrern Railway Company, Norfolk Railway Company, London & North Western Railway Company, East Anglian Railway Company and Smith Hildert & Co.
