  • Title
    Report of George Rowlett, Labourer living in Newtown, Biggleswade. He was going home over the Railway in Stratton Street. When he was just opposite Mr Hooper's, William Bodsworth and Frederick Albone, both of Biggleswade, came running up to him from the town. When Rowlett turned round Bodsworth hit him in the mouth with his fist, knocking him down and Albone kicked him on the legs and back. They both began to drag him around on the floor and kick him. When Rowlett called out, the Police came up and they went away. Report of PC James Jarman of Biggleswade. He was on duty in the High Street, Biggleswade and went past Mr Hooper's Office. He heard some men quarrelling near the Red Lion. They went towards Marythorns buildings. PC Jarman went up to them and found Rowlett in the middle of the road. He said Bosworth had been kicking him. PC Jarman picked Rowlett up, who then walked towards the Market Place. PC Jarman left Rowlett at the corner of Rose Terrace. Report of Superintendent William Bedlow at Biggleswade. He stood near the Crown Inn Gateway and heard PC Cain request someone to go home. It was Rowlett and he was the worse for drink. Note from T Ledwick, Assistant to Dr Burnatt, to say that George Rowlett had been under his supervision since 29 July for injuries to his back. 7/-
