-- The manor of Cardington for which Sir John late suffered a recovery, according to indenture of 10 May 1562;
the manor house and moat with the fish in the moat;

Cardington park, 80 ac.;
Canons close, 20 ac.;
2 closes of 40 ac. before the gates of the sd. house;
Bushey close, 60 ac., S. of above;
Lawnde meadow, 8 ac.;
Hitchcocks pasture, 30 ac., E. of Bushey Close; (leased to Wm. Ladd
of Bedf. yeoman.)
Hill close, 80 ac., S. of Bushey close;
meadow in the High Mead, 200 ac.;
No timber is to be felled, other than 12 ac. of yearly underwood and what is required for building repairs and 'plough boote, hedge boote and cart boote.'
For the upbringing of Sir John's s. John Gascoigne 20 marks are to be paid to Lewes Mordaunt & Peter Grey esqs. and Robt. Webb gent.; on reaching 20 yrs. Jn. is to receive £20 p.a. & by Sir John's will the parsonage of Cardington.
Dame Margt., w. of Sir Jn. Gascoigne, has consented to the sale of Sandall, Burnby & Rudston Yorks. & is to receive 300 marks p.a. and to have the manors of Thorpe & Stapleton to buy her apparel, in consid. of her renouncing her right of dower in lands sold to Nich. Luke, Jn. Alan & Edm. Conquest.
