To mother church of Lincoln 4d.; to the high altar in Steventon 4d.; to the sepulchre light a pound of wax; to the bells 4d.. To eldest son George Weste a black-grey horse, 3 sheep, a red heifer, a quarter of barley. To youngest son Edward Weste a dark sorrel horse, a black heifer, 3 sheep, a quarter of barley. To eldest daughter Alice 3 sheep [ ....], a red heifer, 20s. in money, the greatest pot, two platters that belonged to testator’s father, a candlestick and a pair of sheets. To Margery Weste testator’s youngest daughter, a red heifer, 3 sheep, a pot, a pan, a pair of sheets, 2 platters and a candlestick. The horses and heifers are to be appraised by four men, and their value, with the rest of the bequests, to be given by testator’s wife Agnes to the sons at the age of 15, and to the daughters at the age of 14. Should a son die before that age, then his bequest to go to the survivor, and should both die, then their bequests to go to the daughters. Should a daughter die under age, then her bequest to be divided among surviving children. Should his wife remarry before the children have all come of age, then her husband to put in sureties for these payments before the marriage, and if the husband refuses, then testator’s executor to take into his possession the children’s inheritance before the marriage, to hold to the use of the will. To his sister Agnes18 bushel of barley and 6 bushel of wheat to be delivered within a year of testator’s death. To wife Agnes all the land he leases in the parish of Steventon while she remains single, but if she remarries, then leased land to be to the use of his children. Residue to wife Agnes, who is an executrix and Peter Daylor, he to have for his work 6s. 8d., and the supervisor to be testator’s brother-in-law Thomas Blacknoll. Witnesses Master the vicar of Steventon, Richard Cockes, Thomas Lawrans and Thomas Haughton.
