    Folio 107 - John Byrte of Eversolt made 5 Aug. 1557, pr. 1557. Soul to almighty God, our blessed Lady, and all the holy company of heaven, and burial in church yard of Eversholtt. To mother church of Lincoln 2d.; to poor folks in parish 10s. to be distributed at discretion of Ambrosse Gregorie and Henry Plummer. To poor people in parish of Woborne 6s. 8d., to be distributed at discretion of the bailiff. To son John Byrte all his freehold lands which testator bought of Harry Freman within the parish of Eversholte, that is to say one house and the close adjoining with 7 acres of arable ground in the same parish, and one half acre of meadow in the Churche Mead, and son John is to pay each year to his mother out of that same ground during her life 10s. a year, and he to pay all out rents, and should he die without issue then son Robert Byrte to have house and land under the same conditions, and should he also die without issue then to son Jerome, and similarly to son Abrahame, and so on. Son John to have testator’s copyholding in Hilles Ende according to surrender made by testator into hands of Robert Robertes and John Cosynes , two of his Lady Elizabeth Grace’s tenants. Wife Joane to have his copyholding in the Church Ende and the copyholding of the Weste Meade dealt with by a surrender as above. Wife Joane and son John to be executors. All his goods to be divided in three parts, of which wife can choose one part. The remaining two parts to be divided again into nine parts for his nine children, each of whom to have their portion when they come of lawful age. Should child which wife is carrying live, then there to be 10 parts.. Portion of a child dying before coming of age to be divided between the survivors. Wife to keep children and their goods until they come of age. Son John is already of lawful age, and should there be any contention between wife and son John, then they are to abide by decision of Ambrose Gregorie and Harry Plummer on pain of forfeiting £5, and these two to be the Overseers, and each to have 5s.. Witnesses sir Raffe Feild curate, Robert Roberdes and John Cosen. To Agnes Sucklinge 3s. 4d. To William Wrighte 3s. 4d.. Administration granted to Robert Whiphame for Joane Byrte, and to John Byrte.
