    Folio 104d - Roger Barber of Eversholte made 12 Apr. [?]1551 pr. 15 June 1557. Soul to almighty God, our blessed lady St. Mary and the holy company of heaven. Burial in parish church yard of Eversholte. To son William Barber the house where testator dwells with all the appurtenances both within the parish or without. To William also 6 kine, 2 steers, 3 horses, 2 colts and £40 in money. To son Robert £40, and 2 yearling ox bullocks. To son Richard £20. To son Jerome £20. To daughter Ursula £10, a year old cow, 3 pair of sheets with all the stuff which was her mother’s and her apparel. To Jerome Byrte 6s. 8d.. To Abraham Byrte 6s. 8d.. His sheep (in number 19 and 7 lambs) to be used to clothe his children until they come of age, when sheep to revert to use of son William. To maid Agnes Suckelynge a calf to be weaned this year. 3 weaners to be distributed among his children at discretion of executors. The crop upon the ground, the house with all appurtanences, are to remain to the executors to the use of the bringing up of testator’s children until the age of 21, and executors to have also each year to the same purpose 6 load of wood for the next 12 years, most of it to be taken from the close in Rydgmont. Residue to son William. To the poor 6s. 8d.. Should eldest son die, then his legacy to go to next eldest, and so on. To father in law John Byrte 6s. 8d,; to brother in law John Albone 6s. 8d., and these two to be his executors, and supervisors to be testator’s brother William Barbor and John Byrte, the latter to have 3s. 4d. each. They are not to cut down woods, unless for the repair of the houses. Witnesses John Byrte the elder, Robert Whiphame, Joan Byrte.
