To the high altar for tithes forgotten 12d.. To Richard Chichelye and his wife (testator’s daughter) two quarters of barley and 3 ewe sheep and testator’s [?]worst shod cart as it stands in the cart house, and a pair of new wheels “which be at Myles the whelers”. To daughter Elizabeth 5 ewe sheep, 5 quarters of barley, 2 one year old bullocks. To daughter Alis 5 ewe sheep, 5 quarters of barley and the pied brown cow. To daughter Agnes 5 ewe sheep, 5 quarters of barley, if she is “gentle obedientt and Ruled by her mother”. All the barley and the sheep to be delivered by the feast of All Saints next, if it is convenient. Should Elizabeth, Alis or Agnes die before they are married, then their legacy to be divided among the other two. To the poor people of Silsoe where most need is to every house half a bushel of barley, and to the rest of the poor a peck of barley at Michaelmas next coming. His wife Katheryne and his son R. Standall are to occupy his farm jointly during the remainder of testator’s lease. Should wife remarry, then she is to take the goods and chattles and so depart from the farm. Should she remain single and should testator’s son marry, and they cannot agree together, then son to have half of testator’s moveable goods “outward” and none of the household stuff “inward” except at wife’s pleasure. To every godchild 4d.; to the highways 6s. 8d.. Wife Katheryne to be sole executrix, with Christopher Stele overseer, to whom 6s. 8d.. Witnesses John Hall, Thomas Miller, Thomas Slaye, Thomas Wyllward.
