To his brother Richard at [?]Kenson an old “Ryoll” and “my syster his wyfe” another “old Rioll” [Rialle, rial: a gold coin issued by Edward IV].and to “eyther of his daughters 10s.”. To Marie Atkinson all that is in the new parlour and the complete bed that testator lies in, also 3 pairs of flaxen sheets, 2 table cloths of diaper, 12 napkins, a brass pot and a pan, £20 in money, his spits and cobirons “with the rest of the bras and pewter”. To his brother Thomas Baxter 40s., a quarter of wheat and 4 quarters of barley, his jacket and doublet of tawny chamlet. To brother’s son William Baxter 40s.. To Heugh Baxter a piece of gold containing 30s.. To the same Hew Baxter 40s. and a standing bed that Joan Bisshope lies in with all that belongs thereto. To the two of his children who are the godchildren of testator a cow each. To John Cocken a silver spoon. To Jhoan Bisshope £5., and a cow, a pair of flaxen sheets, a pair of harden sheets, and a brass pot. To Agnes Alen a cow, a mattress, a pair of flaxen sheets, a pair of harden sheets, the lesser brass pot and the lesser brass pan, 2 platters, 2 dishes of pewter, the table in the old parlour, 2 pails, one form, 2 stools and £4 6s. 8d.. To Eme Baxter 10s.. To Agnes Baxter 10s.. To Master John Berd an old rial and testator’s best doublet. To sir John Hasill vicar of Potton an old rial, and testator’s best cope, all his books and 20s. in money that Edmund Gotobed of Potton owes testator. To Master Leonard Grai 10s. and he to say for testator’s soul 5 masses of the 5 wounds. To “Marn’” at Kenson 5 silver spoons. To William Billman’s wife half a quarter of wheat. To John Stone 2 bushel of wheat. To the vicar of Steventon 3s. 4d.. To Master Hale 3s. 4d.. To his wife 3s. 4d.. To Elizabeth Sutton 3s. 4d.. To sir Thomas [?]Nochins 3s. 4d.. To John Duffeld 3s. 4d. and six cheeses. To Thomas Berd 6s. 8d.. To sir Thomas Luton 3s. 4d.. To the vicar of Tadlow 3s. 4d.. To William Baxter, and Henry Baxster 6s. 8d. each. To brother Thomas Baxter 12 cheeses. Executors are to give to Master Chad Cooken £10 and he is to be bound to the executors for penal sum of £20 for the performance of the bequest, which is to give every year for 20 years 12d. a piece to the poor people of Hatlow in the same church, and should his executors not be present, then the gift is to be made in the presence of the vicar of Potton and the parson of Hatlye. To every husbandman in Hatlye 8d.. Should any of testator’s kinsfolk trouble his executors then they are to receive no bequest. Executors to be John Berd and Hugh Baxter.
