    Folio 57 - John Tyrtell alias Throssell of Stotfold, husbandman, made 14 July 1 & 2 Philip and Mary and proved 6 Oct. 1556. Soul to the Holy Trinity, to our blessed lady St. Mary and all the holy company of heaven, and burial in the churchyard of Stotfold. Wife Joan and son Thomas to be executors and his sons John and Robert to be supervisors. Wife Joan and son Thomas together to have all he occupies. To daughter Elizabeth £5 and half a quarter of wheat to be paid on her marriage, and she is to have her stock of sheep and half an acre of barley in the tilth field, and a red bullock to be given her on testator’s decease. To each of his children’s children a bushel of barley from the next crop. To sons John and Robert half a quarter of barley each. To daughter Jhoan Olders half a quarter of barley, and to her children a bullock and its increase. To son Robert’s children a white calf. To son John 2 bushels of wheat. To son Robert and to Nicholas Holders a rood of wheat each. To son Robert an acre of barley in the Marshe Feld, he to chose where he wills, and he is to have 4 roods of oats lying on Croch forlong. To wife Johan his household stuff. To his servant John Tilmose/Talmose 2 bushel of barley. provided that wife Jhoan and son Thomas have all his other goods and his 3 carts “equalli to be devided accordingly to consciens”. To sister Margeret Colman 2 bushel of barley and to each of her two daughters a bushel of barley. Executors to do for his soul with [?] 5s. to poor people. To the high altar 4d.. If any of his sons or daughter go against his executors in any matter then their legacies to be void.
