- TitleFolio 25d - Robert Roger of Bartoon in the Cley, husbandman, made 6 Oct. pr. 27 Nov. 1556. ”I bequeth my sowle to allmighty God to our blessid Lady Sanct Marye and to all tholly company of heavine” and burial in churchyard of St. Nicolas in Barton. Copyhold house and lands going with it to be surrendered to John Bucnam to hold to use of testator’s wife Joan for eight years during which time wife to keep and bring up testator’s children which he had by her, and at the end of 8 years property to go to testator’s son John , he giving to testator’s son Richard a quarter of barley from the next crop, and John to give also to every one of testator’s 7 children by wife Jhoan a quarter of barley each, one quarter to be paid each year, and John to see to the upbringing of his brothers and sisters. Should John die, then property to go to testator’s son Robert, under the same conditions. To Alis Reede a quarter of barley. After the end of the 8 years wife Jhoan to have a chamber on the same ground, and an acre of land in the East field of Barton, an acre in the North feld and another acre where John and she can agree for every year. Testator’s horses, cart and cart gear and plough and plough gear to be valued and wife to deliver it to son John in her last year, and she to give him also corn to sow his land (or this to be given to Robert if John has died). Residue to wife Jhoan, and she to be an executrix with testator’s brother William Roger executor “to dispose yt to the pleasure of God and to the health of my sowle”.
