    Folio 17d - Roger Lody of parish of Luton, husbandman, made 3 Mar. 1556 pr. 5 Oct. 1556. His “Sowlle to allmightye God my maker and Redemer and to our Ladye Saint Mary and all the holy company of heaven “ and burial in churchyard of Lutton. To high altar of Lutton for tithes forgotten 4d.. To son John Lodye testator’s messuage called Lodes Place with all lands, meadows and pastures and appurtenances to him and his male issue, paying to testator’s son Edward Lody £3 6s. 8d. in money and to son Richard Lody £3 6s. 8d. within one year of testator’s death. Should son John Lody die without male issue then property to go to son Edward, and if he die without heirs male, then property to go to son Richard Lody and his heirs male, in defaul;t property to go to any of testator’s daughters then alive. To son Edward Lody the best shod cart and 4 quarters of barley. To son Richard Lody the other shod cart and 4 quarters of barley. To daughter Helen Brickett 2 quarter of barley, and to her two children Thomas and Agnes a sheep each. To Mary the daughter of John Lody a ewe and a lamb. To Agnes Lody daughter of John Lody a sheep. To Margery Belces 2 quarter of barley and to Thomas Belces her son a sheep. To daughter Agnes Lody 4 marks on the day of her marriage, the best coverlet, 6 pewter platters of the best that testator has, a feather bed, a blanket, 5 pair of sheets, a bolster, 3 pillow heres, 2 pillows, 2 candlesticks, 3 saltsellers. To every godchild 4d.. Executor to bring testator honestly under earth and to have at his burial a dirge and 2 masses, and at his months tide the same. Residue of goods and chattels to wife Agnes Lody who is executrix and son Edward to be executor, and he to have a quarter of wheat. Witnesses John Reyner, John Stopesley, Richard Stowpisley, William Walker. His two great chests and his trough in the kitchen and his great trough in the bakehouse to remain in the house as standards there.
