    Folio 6d - John Eynsham of Shitlingdon made 26 August pr. 26 Nov. 1556. “Firste commending my sowle to the mercy of Almightie God in righte fayth and truste therby to be saved. “ To wife Anne the occupying of his farm with all his horse and horse gears plough and plough gears cart and cart gears until testator’s son Thomas shall come to the age of 18 years, and then he is to enter on half the property, and from that time they are to occupy the property jointly. To son Mathew the copyholding which testator holds of Mr. Lane and the copyhold lands of the Parsonage Hold lying in Hemstone field, but should Mathew die without issue, then the property to revert to son Thomas. To his children by wife Anne in his second marriage £20 in money and all his beasts and cattle saving his horse, and the sum of £20 to be divided equally between them and given to son at age of 18 and to daughters at the age of 14/15. To testator’s brother Thomas 10s. and to Thomas’ two sons John and Richard a quarter of barley each. To testator’s sister Agnes 6s. 8d.. To Mathew Polter and John his children [sic] to each of them one sheep. To sister Alis 6s. 8d.. To his brother in law John Prior a quarter of malt. To Thomas Colman of Hamstony a quarter of barley. To the “povertie” that dwell between his house and the church a quarter of malt. Robert Godlingston is to have the oversight of his son Mathew and the custody of his stock until such time as son shall come to the age of 20 years, and in recompense of the work he will have to do in this and in the executorship testator leaves to the same Robert the lease in Stoking so that he shall agree and pay to Richard Asheton such tithes and duties as he justly claims for the same. Residue to wife Anne whom he appoints executor jointly with testator’s brother Thomas and the supervisor to be Robert Godlington Witnesses John Prior and John Asheton writer and vicar of the parish.
