Statement from Nehemiah Smith, Principal Teacher of the Biggleswade Boys Board School that Emma Tomlin did not attend school on 19 April 1877 and that she had only made 6 attendances during the 8 weeks in which the school had been open previous to the 21 April 1877. Request of George Mosely, School Attendance Inspector for Biggleswade, at Arlesey that George Tomlin of Cowfair Lands, Biggleswade, parent of Emma Tomlin, be summoned to appear before the Justices of the Peace. Defendant appeared and pleaded guilty. fine and costs 5/- or 7 days.
